European and US medical and defense technology companies are developing the "Battle Truck", a rugged medical evacuation vehicle designed for frontline conditions in Ukraine. Spearheaded by entrepreneur Howard Hunt, the initiative was launched because standard donated ambulances often fail on uneven terrain and face maintenance issues. The vehicle will serve as a durable transport platform and a shared testing ground for emerging medical technologies in real-world environments.

The project integrates multiple innovative systems into the modified vehicle. Molecular Products is contributing a generator that provides oxygen for approximately 15 minutes without conventional cylinders or external power. Velico is developing spray-dried plasma that can be stored in lightweight packaging and rehydrated with sterile water in under three minutes. Vehicle engineering, including suspension upgrades for damaged roads, will be handled by NIXXEN. AO-Med will supply digital triage systems to record casualty information during transit.

To protect personnel and patients from drone strikes and incendiary weapons, the team is exploring a specialized protective covering. This blanket is intended to shield against explosive fragments and white phosphorus, while potentially reducing the vehicle's thermal signature to make detection harder.

The team aims to produce three or four initial vehicles with an estimated budget of 500,000 euros. Once funding is secured, the prototype is planned to be assembled in Germany and transported to Ukraine for testing. If validated, the consortium hopes to expand the model to deliver hundreds of similarly equipped vehicles to front lines and civilian areas.
