The massive Station F campus in Paris has published its 2026 Future 40 list, highlighting its most promising startups. Selected from over a thousand startups, this year's cohort heavily features artificial intelligence, deeptech, developer infrastructure, robotics, and climate technology. The 40 selected companies, mostly in their pre-seed or seed stages, have collectively secured 110 million euros in funding so far. Meanwhile, startups across the broader campus ecosystem reached a new milestone by raising a record 2 billion euros this year.
A notable trend in the latest selection is a growing preference for bootstrapping among founders. Five companies in the cohort chose to operate independently, largely driven by a desire to retain control over their businesses. The adoption of artificial intelligence tools supports this approach, allowing startups to achieve higher productivity with smaller teams and delay traditional fundraising. Additionally, there is a clear rise in projects combining physical products with AI models, particularly in robotics and hardware.
The demographic profile of the founders is also shifting towards highly specialized backgrounds. Nearly half of the chosen teams include at least one doctorate holder, and 75 percent are led by repeat founders. Furthermore, six companies in the group decided to return to France after participating in Y Combinator in Silicon Valley. This move indicates a growing confidence in utilizing the local talent pool and relatively lower operational costs in Paris to build globally competitive companies.
