UK-based research technology company Digital Science has acquired Jenni AI, an artificial intelligence platform utilized by over 8 million students and researchers across 189 countries. This acquisition aims to support the academic workflow from a first idea to a finalized piece of work. The platform's core capabilities include exploring sources, drafting and refining text, and verifying citations against original materials to ensure academic integrity.

In the coming months, the platform's features will be expanded through integration with Digital Science's Dimensions database, which contains 171 million scholarly publications. This integration is designed to help users discover, understand, and cite academic literature more effectively by leveraging full-text search capabilities. Stephen Leicht, CEO of Digital Science, emphasized that while AI use is now routine, researchers specifically need verified citations that general-purpose tools fail to provide, a gap this platform successfully addresses.

Joining a portfolio that includes Overleaf, Papers AI, and ReadCube, the newly acquired platform will continue to operate as a standalone product. It was announced that Jenni AI will retain its original name, team, pricing, and subscription plans. David Park, CEO of Jenni AI, stated that joining Digital Science represents a major step toward empowering researchers with the knowledge, tools, and confidence necessary to push the boundaries of human discovery.
